On Friday, November 8, 2024, Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, visited the Allen Town Market and assured the community of Freetown City Council’s support amid a recent ownership claim on the property which the community has used for the past 42 years.

Speaking to stakeholders, including the community chairman, chairlady, market women and youth, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr reaffirmed FCC’s commitment to building a permanent market in the area as part of her legacy. She also encouraged market women to continue their trading activities as FCC works toward a long-term solution.

Mayor Aki-Sawyerr was accompanied by councilors Zainab Conteh, Marie Conteh, the Deputy Chief Administrator, Legal Officer, Development Planning Officer, Deputy Engineer, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, and other FCC staff.
