The Internal Audit Department of the Freetown City Council provides an independent assurance that the Council’s risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively. The Council employees in this department have a professional duty to provide an unbiased and objective view.

What We Do

The Internal Audit Officer evaluates and examines policies, procedures and systems in place at the City Council to protect assets of the council. We evaluate the reliability and integrity of information and the efficient and effective use of resources at the councils, review compliance with policies, procedures and state laws and regulations and report results and make recommendations to management of Freetown City Council.

The department provides a full range of financial, compliance, and operational audits, investigations, internal control structures, accountability and use of resources.
