FCC and Abundant Life Charity Explore Collaboration to Upgrade Municipal School Facilities

On Thursday, 19 February, Freetown City Council welcomed a delegation from Abundant Life Charity to explore potential areas of collaboration, with a particular focus on strengthening support for municipal schools.

Founded by Madam Dennisia Akran, Abundant Life Charity is a humanitarian organisation committed to improving learning environments and supporting underprivileged children across Sierra Leone.

Joined by FCC’s Deputy Head of Education, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, OBE, expressed appreciation to the team for their commitment to supporting three municipal schools: Thomas Peters Municipal Primary School, Dr. June Holst Roness Municipal Infant Primary School, and Fattah Rahman Municipal Infant Primary School as well as the Home Economics Centres at S.M. Broderick and Circular Road.

Proposed interventions include establishing libraries and providing educational materials, and supporting orphaned and vulnerable pupils with uniforms and learning supplies. As a next step, the Charity will submit a formal proposal outlining a framework for collaboration with the Council.
