At the close of her first day at the Climate Week held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Summit of the Future, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, Mayor of Freetown & Co-Chair of C40 Cities, took part in a high-level panel on building sustainable cities, hosted by the Embassy of Denmark to the UN and its partners. She also spoke at the #GlobalRenewables Summit on “Sharing Benefits of an Inclusive Renewable Energy Transition,” with a focus on what Freetown is doing to promote #cleancooking. Later, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr attended the launch of the Global Africa Gateway, which was also attended notable figures such as Aliko Dangote, Chairman and CEO of the Dangote Group; H.E. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; Dr. Monique Nsanzanaganwa, Deputy Chairperson of the AU Commission; and Professor Benedict Okey Oramah, President of Afreximbank, among others.
