On Thursday, 20 November 2025, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr OBE, welcomed Prof. Kimberlyn Leary and Dr. Griffin Jones, researchers from the Good Services Lab at the Bloomberg Center for Cities, Harvard University. They are visiting Freetown as part of a research project studying the Bloomberg Youth Climate Action Fund.

The visit aims to deepen understanding of how Freetown is empowering young people to drive impactful local climate solutions. While in the city, the Harvard team will meet with youth groups, interact with emerging climate leaders, and visit youth-led climate initiatives. These engagements will provide firsthand insight into the innovation, resilience, and community impact being demonstrated by Freetown’s young climate actors.
