On Wednesday 9th January, CRS handed over a DFID-funded utility vehicle to the Freetown City Council.
The donation comes as part of Mayor Aki-Sawyerr’s efforts to build the Council’s capacity to deliver on its sanitation mandate – cleaning public spaces, managing dumpsites and enforcing sanitation bye-laws.
The vehicle will be used by FCC’s sanitary inspectors as they conduct sanitation inspections and respond to sanitation-related reports from members of the public.
FCC currently has just 35 sanitary inspectors and until this donation, just one vehicle available to the sanitary inspectors. This additional vehicle will strengthen the council’s enforcement capacity.
More vehicles and sanitary inspectors are required for our city with a population of 1.2m people but this is a great way to start in 2020!
Thank you to DFID and CRS for their continued support to FCC’s efforts to keep our city clean.
