Our Councillors and Ward Development Committee members have been engaging their communities throughout this week on the Coronavirus Disease!
Community engagement is a key component of FCC’s COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan and our aim is to make sure that all our residents understand and accept the messages around COVID-19. We are doing this through our council structure, our Councillors and Ward Development Committee (“WDC”) members, who know their communities well. Councillors and Ward Secretaries were trained by the DHMT to ensure that the messages that will be passed on align with that of the Ministry of Health. Trained teams will engage other community members at household level, in markets, ataya bases, lorry parks etc and spread awareness and prevention messages.
These community engagement efforts complement FCC’s other COVID-19 response interventions which include the provision of water to PHUs, markets and informal settlements and the distribution of masks to traders.
Thank you to all Councillors and WDC members who have taken their duty to their residents seriously. Below are photos from some of the 322 communities that make up our city!
Thank you to our partners CARE and CRS for helping us roll out the community engagement across Freetown.
