Councillors Elect Deputy Mayor at the Inaugural Council Meeting

Councillors of the Freetown City Council have today, 30th May, 2018 elected the Deputy Mayor in their inaugural meeting with the Mayor at the FCC conference hall.

In a widely accepted free, fair and transparent election, Osman Koroma, of Constituency 114 and Ward 404 acquired twenty (20) of the total forty-eight (48) valid votes cast thereby making him the winner of the election. The other contestants, including the incumbent Hannah Mary Jaiah received nineteen (19) votes, while Aminata Gibril Sesay and Thomas Collins Pearce acquired Five (5) and four (4) valid votes respectively.

After he received the medal from her Worship, The Mayor, Osman Koroma, thanked his colleague councillors for the trust and support they demonstrated by electing him Deputy Mayor. He stressed that he was ready to work together with the Mayor in realising her vision for the city.

In her earlier statement to Councillors and Staff, The Mayor, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, re-echoed her commitment to improving service delivery for all Freetownians. She said, *“As a council, we will ensure that we meet our targets to deliver the services to the people of Freetown.”*

The meeting was adjourned to a date that would be communicated to councillors.
