Freetown City Council, in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and FCC approved waste service providers, has intensified its door-to-door engagement with residents and businesses across the city as part of the #DortiMustGo waste management campaign. The ongoing exercise focuses on sensitising residents, registering households and businesses for waste collection services, and facilitating payments for waste collection.

The engagement, which covers the eight blocks across Freetown, targets households, institutions and businesses. Residents are being informed about the 2024 Sanitation Bye-Law, the importance of registering for waste collection services, and the need to make timely payments to FCC-approved waste service providers.

A key component of the exercise is to assist residents who have not yet registered for waste collection services to join the system. Those with outstanding waste management payments are also being encouraged to settle their bills through the available payment platforms, including the Smart City System and the Dorti Box app.

The door-to-door campaign will continue as part of efforts to improve waste management and maintain a cleaner city. FCC is encouraging all residents, businesses and institutions to play their part in keeping Freetown clean, stressing that proper waste management is a shared responsibility.
