On Tuesday 28 October, 2025, the Mayor of Freetown, Her Worship Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr OBE, together with the Chief Executive Officer of Africell Sierra Leone Shadi Al‑Gerjawi and AfriMoney Martison Obeng‑Agyei, launched the FCC Property Rate and Business Licences AfriMoney Payment System, a platform that further digitizes FCC’s property rates and business licence collection efforts.
The new online payment system makes it easier and more convenient for residents to pay their property rates and business licenses from anywhere, directly from their phones using #AfriMoney.
Speaking at the launch which was attended by FCC Councillors, the Chief Administrator and staff, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr OBE emphasised the importance of residents meeting their obligations by paying property rates and business licences to the Council, as these revenues enable effective service delivery.
Both CEOs highlighted that the collaboration between Africell, AfriMoney, and the Freetown City Council represents another significant step toward improving service delivery and strengthening partnerships with the Council. They also commended FCC’s ongoing sanitation efforts under the #DortiMusGo campaign.
