The #MaskupFreetown Campaign donated 6,500 masks to 9 more markets in Freetown

#MaskupFreetown is a campaign that aims to donate 120,000 masks to market women and other vulnerable communities in Freetown as part of the Behavioral Change Support pillar of the FCC Covid19 support. This is made possible with support from the #EUStandsWithSalone initiative supporting the efforts of Freetonians to prevent and manage the current COVID-19 outbreak in Sierra Leone.

Partnering with Madam Wokie Designs, the team donated 6,500 masks to market women at the Lumley Market, Wilberforce Villiage and Wilberforce Barraks Market, Murray Town Market, Tengbeh Town Market, Dwazark Market, Wilberforce Street, Ecowas Street and Salad Gron Markets.

The market women expressed their gratitude to FCC and its partners for thinking about them during this time and stated that they themselves are playing their part towards stopping COVID19. They are encouraging all market women as well as their customers to #MaskUp whenever they are out in public especially when coming to the market.

The campaign will continue with the donations moving to markets in the Eastern part of Freetown.

Special thanks to the European Union and other partners for their support with this initiative and other COVID19 Response activities.
