FCC Constructs Drainage in Portoh Levuma Community, Ward 446

In preparedness for the 2020 rainy season, FCC, with support from Engineers without Borders Denmark, is constructing a 100-meter drainage in the flood prone Portoh Levuma community in Juba.
The project is being implemented by World Hope with National Skills Pool, a local community based organization, providing supervision. Councillor Abdul Karim Turay of Ward 446 is providing oversight as he has played an important role in development of the project.
As part of the project, 1500 trees have also been planted in the community.
This initiative is part of FCC’s environmental management priority of the #TransformFreetown Agenda. It will support FCC’s citywide flood mitigation exercise during the 2020 rainy season.
FCC will continue working to reduce flooding risks in communities across Freetown and to #TransformFreetown even as we work to respond to the #COVID19 outbreak in Freetown.
