Freetown & Charleston Sign Sister City Partnership Agreement

Charleston, South CarolinaMayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, signed the Sister City International Partnership between Freetown & Charleston, with the Mayor of Charleston, John Tecklenburg. The signing took place during an official ceremony in the City Hall Council Chamber of the City of Charleston, South Carolina.

The Partnership will foster the development and exchange of economic, tourism, civil, community, and academic programs between Freetown, Sierra Leone and Charleston, South Carolina in the United States of America. The Partnership also will encourage the sharing of best practices in the areas of resilience and sustainability between both cities.

Representatives of the International African-American Museum (IAAM) & Charleston Sister Cities International, who were key to the development of the partnership agreement, were also present at the official signing.
