FCC Distributes Medical Supplies to Six Hospitals in Freetown

Earlier in July, Deputy Mayor of Freetown, Osman Thollo Koroma, handed over medical supplies to six hospitals in Freetown during a short symbolic ceremony at the District Health Management Team’s office in Cline Town.

Present at the ceremony were the Chief Administrator of the Freetown City Council, Festus B. Kallay; District Medical Officer for Freetown, Dr Osaio Kamara; Head of the Health Committee at FCC, Councillor Aminata Gibril Sesay and representatives of Jacobs Well Appeal. Also present were the representatives (medical surperintendents and matrons) of the two tertiary hospitals (Connaught Hospital & Princess Christian Maternity Hospital) and four secondary hospitals (lumley Hospital, King HArman Road Hospital, Macauley Street Hospital and Rokupa Government Hospital).

The medical supplies were donated to the Freetown Municipality by Jacob’s Well Appeal, a charity organisation in Hull UK. A wide variety of medical supplies were donated; cough syrups, colostomy tems, catheters, dressings & plasters, pads, disinfectants,  gloves etc. Drs Robertson were also able to visit Rokupa Government Hospital, King Harman Road Hospital and Connaught Hospitals for a needs assessment that will inform future donations.
